It was really foggy around here when the river was colder then the air.

I went out to play in it.  Hope you like what I found.

 

Foodie Friday Home Made Granolanan

I have been on a mission....it has to do with the SCALE...so there you have it.

I'm counting calories and steps.

Granola is expensive and at the Whole Earth Center in Princeton

where I purchased my last batch there is no bar code to scan.

I'm loving  the "Lose It" app on my I phone and can create my own recipes with a calorie count but I need the BAR CODE.

 

Granolanan

 

 

Here is the recipe and one of my tricks to make life easy.

 

 

 

Mix  in large bowl

3 cups oats

2 tbls brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ginger

 

In small bowl blend

1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup olive oil

1 tsp vanilla

 

Pour over oats and mix well

 

Spread thin on a cookie sheet lined with one of those liners

 

Bake at 350 45 minutes or until golden brown

Let cool and separate if necessary.

 

1/2 to 1 cup of chopped pecans can be added at this time.

 

Simply lift silicone baking sheet from pan, fold, and pour into large Mason Jar...

store with cereals

 

 

1/2 cup serving is so delicious with an equal amount of vanilla yogurt, and comes in at about 350 calories but will keep you satisfied for a long while...add a handful of blueberries at hardly any calories at all for one of your daily fruits.

 

Ill be back with revisions of this one I'm sure...I want to try it with some ground flax and maple syrup substitute for some of the honey.

As the day dawns you can watch it lift right off the water.

Dressing the Tree

I don't really like the idea of cutting trees down from the outside and bringing them inside. In fact, in my house, we have been known to refer to this activity as  TREE SACRIFICING.  Here in my home town, the Washington Crossing-Yardley Kiwanis Club funds the lighting of a big tree in the park at the intersection of River Road (32) and General Washington Memorial Blvd (532).  This year it was getting a new dress of lights fitted by the friendly folks at the Seasons Garden Center, and I just happened by. Not enough can be said about right time, right place.  I submitted a few to the Bucks County Herald.  I'll have to keep watch to see if I get in.

 

 

 

 

December Blooms

Besides all the hubbub that surrounds the holidays, you know what I mean;  Santa at the mall before Thanksgiving,  two women rolling around the floor at the mall and then the blue flash of the TAZER, the stampede for the deal on Black Friday, the internet ads for Cyber Monday, the flash of the parades on your TV, besides all that there is one beautiful and peaceful indicator that the giving season is upon us.  I am always amazed at the simplicity and beauty of the December blooms that the Christmas Cactus offers at this time of year.

Delaware Views RED at the Covered Bridge Artisans 19th Annual Holiday Studio Tour

 

It was a beautiful day to take a ride to the Cultural Arts Center in Seargentsville, NJ and visit  studios on the Covered Bridge Artisans  19th Annual Studio Tour.  Several Artists had their crafts displayed at the Center. Beautiful glass ornaments,  wood bowls,  pottery, home spun wool, jewelry and more to choose from at the first stop. 

 

It was our decision to be selective on this day so rather than follow the provided map and visit all the studios on the tour, we made our specific selections and went on to Timothy Martin's Studio in Stockton.  We were WOWED by his fantastically fun and whimsical paintings and personality. 

 

Heading back towards the river I just had to stop. Well, it was the Covered Bridge tour after all, and to my surprise and pleasure I managed to snap off a few with this happy, waving bicycle rider as he passed through. The wreath provided just the amount of necessary RED.

 

 

It is hard for me to believe that I have lived in this region for over 40 years and never stopped at the Prallsville Mill.

Being that Impressionism is one of my favorite styles it was a real pleasure to view his work.

Not only was he a delight to chat with but just have a look...he was wearing RED.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunday Funday

Thanksgivukkah was a fun event celebrated with my family. 

 I had the pleasure of an extended over night visit with my beautiful niece, who indulged me and braved the freezing morning so we could get this image.
